More Than Just a Quick Fix
Our Mission at Be Proactive
Helping runners and active individuals in Rothwell move with confidence, strength, and zero guesswork.

Meet Will: Specialist Physiotherapist & Founder
I believe physiotherapy should do more than just manage your pain—it should prepare you for what comes next.
I’m Will, a Chartered Physiotherapist and the founder of Be Proactive Physiotherapy, based in Rothwell, providing physiotherapy services across Leeds, Wakefield, and West Yorkshire as a whole. I specialise in running physiotherapy, sports injuries, back pain, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
Too often, patients are trapped in a cycle of “passive” treatment—getting short-term relief that fades as soon as they get back to their sport or daily routine.
My approach is different. I specialise in running physiotherapy and complex injury rehab, focusing on how your whole body moves under load. Whether you are an elite runner preparing for a race or someone struggling with persistent back pain, my goal is to find the root cause of your issue and build a plan that makes you more resilient than you were before the injury.
Why "Be Proactive"?
The traditional model of physiotherapy is reactive — waiting for things to break before fixing them. We change that.
At Be Proactive, we don’t just treat symptoms. We assess the “why.”
Why is that knee pain recurring every time you hit 5 miles?
Why has that back stiffness returned after months of rest?
Why does your movement still feel restricted despite stretching?
By identifying these underlying factors, we save you months of trial and error — helping you avoid the stop-start cycle of injury and giving you a clear, evidence-based roadmap to recovery.
Our 3-Step Process to Results
Assess Thoroughly (Focus on the Why)
Every appointment starts with a detailed assessment to understand not just where you’re feeling pain, but why it’s happening. This includes looking at how your whole body moves and responds to load — whether you’re running, training, or managing everyday activity.
Treat With Purpose (Hands-on + Exercise)
Treatment is individualised and evidence-based, combining hands-on physiotherapy with targeted exercise and movement strategies. The focus is on addressing the root cause, improving capacity, and supporting recovery — not just short-term relief.
Build Long-Term Resilience (Strength + Confidence)
The final step is about progression. By building strength, movement control, and confidence, the aim is to reduce the risk of recurring issues and help you return to running, sport, or daily life feeling stronger and more resilient.
Stop Guessing. Start Progressing.
Most people waste months resting, “waiting for the pain to go away,” or following generic YouTube stretches.
Think of a visit to Be Proactive as a shortcut. We remove the uncertainty.
You leave not just feeling better, but with a clear understanding of your body and a plan built around your life — not a textbook.
Common Questions About Our Care

Yes. Treatment may include hands-on physiotherapy alongside exercise-based rehabilitation and movement work, depending on what’s most appropriate for your condition.
This varies depending on the issue and your goals. Some people feel improvement quickly, while others benefit from a short block of sessions. This will be discussed openly after your assessment so you know what to expect.
