Be Proactive Physio

Rothwell’s Specialist Physiotherapist for Runners — and Anyone Who Wants to Move Better

Evidence-based physiotherapy, strength, and movement care for sports injuries, everyday pain, and performance goals.

Why Our Running Specialism Makes a Difference

Running places high demands on the body, which is why our assessments go beyond symptoms. We assess how your whole body moves and performs under load, not just where the pain is. If we can support runners through high-impact, repetitive training, the same approach works extremely well for back pain, joint pain, and everyday injuries—benefiting runners and non-runners alike.

Don't Take Our Word For It

Why US!

I’m Will, a Chartered Physiotherapist and the founder of Be Proactive Physiotherapy, based in Rothwell, providing physiotherapy services across Leeds, Wakefield, and West Yorkshire as a whole. I specialise in running physiotherapy, sports injuries, back pain, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

With over 12+ years of experience, I take a proactive and individualised approach to care. Rather than treating symptoms alone, I focus on identifying the root cause of pain or recurring issues by assessing how the whole body moves and responds to load.

Treatment combines hands-on physiotherapy, evidence-based rehabilitation, and tailored exercise programmes designed to support long-term recovery, resilience, and confident movement.

The Proactive Approach™:

01.

Assess Thoroughly (Focus on the Why)

Every appointment starts with a detailed assessment to understand not just where you’re feeling pain, but why it’s happening. This includes looking at how your whole body moves and responds to load — whether you’re running, training, or managing everyday activity.

02.

Treat With Purpose (Hands-on + Exercise)

Treatment is individualised and evidence-based, combining hands-on physiotherapy with targeted exercise and movement strategies. The focus is on addressing the root cause, improving capacity, and supporting recovery — not just short-term relief.

03.

Build Long-Term Resilience (Strength + Confidence)

The final step is about progression. By building strength, movement control, and confidence, the aim is to reduce the risk of recurring issues and help you return to running, sport, or daily life feeling stronger and more resilient.

Save Yourself Months of Trial & Error With a Clear Plan Back to Pain-Free Running

Why keep guessing what’s wrong, resting for weeks, or hopping between stretches and YouTube advice — only for the pain to come back as soon as you run again?

Most runners I see have already wasted months doing exactly that.

With a proper runner’s assessment, you get clarity straight away. No guesswork. No generic advice. No wasted training blocks.

Instead, you get:

A clear understanding of what’s actually causing the issue

A plan built around your running, not a textbook

A faster, safer route back to consistent, confident running

Think of it as a shortcut — helping you avoid the stop-start cycle, missed races, and frustration that so many runners accept as “part of running.”

If you want to get back to running comfortably, build fitness without constant setbacks, and stop second-guessing every niggle — this is the first step.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a runner to book an appointment?

No. While running physiotherapy is a key specialism, appointments are suitable for anyone dealing with pain, injury, or movement issues. The same detailed, whole-body approach used with runners is just as effective for back pain, joint injuries, and everyday aches.

What happens in my first appointment?

Your first appointment includes a full assessment to understand your symptoms, movement, and goals. This often involves looking beyond the painful area to identify contributing factors. You’ll receive a clear explanation of what’s going on and a personalised plan to move forward.

Do I need a referral from my GP or consultant?

No referral is needed. You can book directly without seeing a GP first.

What conditions do you treat?

Treatment commonly includes running-related injuries and niggles, back and neck pain, hip, knee, ankle, and shoulder injuries, sports injuries, post-surgery rehabilitation, and ongoing or recurring pain.

If you’re unsure whether physiotherapy is right for your issue, you’re welcome to get in touch for advice.

What are the promotions going on?

We provide the most user-friendly service for you to develop your software with the best user-experience design. You can come up with an idea, design plan or we are open for discussion to help you to develop your desired software efficiently.

Will I be given exercises?

Yes, where appropriate. Exercises are tailored to you and your goals — whether that’s returning to running, improving performance, or managing everyday pain. The focus is on quality and relevance, not generic routines.

What’s more, we have a user friendly app with video and picture demonstrations that can be downloaded for your convenience.

Do you offer hands-on treatment?

Yes. Treatment may include hands-on physiotherapy alongside exercise-based rehabilitation and movement work, depending on what’s most appropriate for your condition.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on the issue and your goals. Some people feel improvement quickly, while others benefit from a short block of sessions. This will be discussed openly after your assessment so you know what to expect.

Where is the clinic based?

The clinic is based in Rothwell, providing physiotherapy services for clients from Leeds, Wakefield, and the wider West Yorkshire area.

How do I book an appointment?

Appointments can be booked online at a time that suits you. If you have any questions before booking, feel free to get in touch.
